Day 19 of 31
Let little things go
The discretion of a man makes him slow to anger. It is his glory to overlook an offense.
Talk about it
Being slow to anger means you don't explode right away when something bugs you. Sometimes the wise thing is to let a small thing go and move on. The verse calls that glorious. Big things, like someone hurting you, are never ones to let go: tell a grown-up right away.
Try it today
When something small annoys you today, decide to let it go.
Ask at dinner
What is a small thing that bugs you that you could let go?
For the grown-up
“Discretion” is good sense. Overlooking is for small offenses; real wrongs still get named and dealt with (Matthew 18:15). Helping a child sort “small thing, let it go” from “big thing, tell a grown-up” is a skill they will use for life.
