Day 28 of 31
Say sorry and find mercy
He who conceals his sins doesn’t prosper, but whoever confesses and renounces them finds mercy.
Talk about it
When you do something wrong, it is tempting to hide it. This verse says hiding makes things worse, but telling the truth and turning away from it brings mercy. God loves to forgive.
Try it today
If you need to say sorry to someone, do it today, to them and to God.
Ask at dinner
How does it feel after you say sorry?
For the grown-up
1 John 1:9 is the New Testament partner: “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” “Renounces” means turning away, not only feeling bad. Children learn this from how we receive their confessions; mercy at home is a picture of God’s mercy.
