Day 30 of 31
Small and wise, like Woo
24“There are four things which are little on the earth, but they are exceedingly wise: 25The ants are not a strong people, yet they provide their food in the summer. 26The hyraxes are but a feeble folk, yet make they their houses in the rocks. 27The locusts have no king, yet they advance in ranks. 28You can catch a lizard with your hands, yet it is in kings’ palaces.
Talk about it
This is Woo's verse! Rock hyraxes (some Bibles call them conies) are small furry animals that can't fight off big enemies, so they make their homes in the rocks where they are safe. Being small doesn't stop you from being wise.
Try it today
Find something small in nature today, like an ant or a lizard, and watch it for one minute.
Ask at dinner
Which of the four little creatures is your favorite, and why?
For the grown-up
Older Bibles say “conies”; this site’s Bible text says “hyraxes”. They are the same animal: rock hyraxes, the creature Woo is named for. Their wisdom is knowing where safety is, and Scripture often calls God a rock (Psalm 18:2). Woo lives in the rocks, like the wise builder’s house on the rock in Matthew 7.
