Lying lips are an abomination to Yahweh, but those who do the truth are his delight.
Talk about it
Yahweh is God's own name. This verse says God hates lies, and that people who tell the truth make him glad. Telling the truth is brave, especially when you made a mistake.

“Abomination” is strong language: lying is serious to God because God is truth. Pair it with grace: a child who confesses should meet calm, not anger, or they learn that hiding is safer (see day 28, Proverbs 28:13). “Thank you for telling me the truth” before any consequence makes the next confession easier.
